David Britton has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, New Jersey for the past 7 years. Under his direction, RV’s marching and concert ensembles have flourished bringing innovative repertoire and superior musicianship to the stage and field. Rancocas Valley’s Red Devil Marching Band is the 2009 USSBA Group III New Jersey State Champion and the 2009 USSBA Group III National Champion. David earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from West Chester University (PA) where he studied percussion under Joe Goebel, Richard Fitz and Dr. Chris Hanning. He was a member of the “Incomparable” Golden Rams Marching and WCU Wind Ensemble. He was also a member of the Westshoremen Drum & Bugle Corps from Harrisburg, PA. He has collaborated with and taught along side percussion legends John Beck, Jim Campbell and the late Fred Sanford. David has been teaching in the marching arts for over 15 years and has worked with bands and drum corps throughout the Mid Atlantic and Upper Midwest regions of the United States. His roles have been as instructor, composer/ arranger, technician, designer and consultant for both outdoor and indoor ensembles. For the past 2 years, David has been a front ensemble instructor for the Timber Creek Regional High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble – 2010 WGI Percussion Scholastic A World Champions. Outside of the marching activity, David is a freelance percussionist comfortable in a wide array of musical settings. He is at home in the classical repertoire having performed with the Pottstown Symphony (PA), Metropolitan Symphony (MN), Allegro Sinfonia (MN), Saint Paul Civic Orchestra (MN), Salem County Brass Society (NJ) and The Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey (NJ). He has also recorded with acclaimed local Philly artists Roia Rafieyan and Stephen Lyons. Recently, David has begun collaborations with his wife – Soprano Teresa D’Amico – highlighting music for the unique pairing of voice and percussion. David is a long-standing member of the Percussive Arts Society and an advocate for comprehensive percussion education. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of South Jersey Band & Orchestra Directors Association and is Co-Percussion Coordinator for the New Jersey All-State Band. David is proud to be a part of the Standing ‘O’ team!
